MAX PÉNETTE was born in Port-au-Prince in 1920 and has been an educator since age sixteen. Mr. Pénette studied civil engineering and mathematics in Haiti, Europe and the United States. He is the founder of College Max Pénette, and has taught in many schools in his long teaching career, including Ecole Polytechnique, Lycée Pétion and the Cours Georges Duhamel, now the French Lycée. Mr. Pénette is a proponent of civic participation, and has served as Dean of Ecole Normale Supérieure, Mayor of Pétionville, and President of the Rotary Club and the Rotary Foundation. At 93, Mr. Pénette remains an inspirational presence at the PRODEV office.
